Q: How much to replace brake pads on a porsche 911 (996)?
only after a rough estimate so when my garage comes back to me i dont get ripped off. Its solely the brakepads on a porsche 911 (996) that need replacing. After a rough price on parts / labour. Thx.
A: Labor could be 2 to 3 hours easy if they clean and inspect things well. Front pad set is $32-500 depending on which you choose, rears $50-375. You will also need Brake Pad Vibration Dampers, they are sticky back and should only be used once. They run about $100 for the fronts and $50 for the rear. You should be able to turn the rotors and if they do this in house they get about $10-20 each to resurface them. It would also be a good time to flush the brake fluid and that should be an hour labor. You will also need the brake pad wear sensors which I have only once been able to reuse them. They are $10 for each pad set.
Add it up and it looks pretty scary, just the cost of fun...
Q: What is the visual difference between Porsche 911 Carrera and Carrera S?
What are the visual differences between the S and the normal 911 after the facelift. I know that the exhausts are different. Is there anything else? I find them identical from the front.
A: Also, the S has red brake calipers (Base 911 has yellow). Base rides on smaller standard rims (18inch) v/s the S which has 19 inchers. S has quad tailpipes, whilst base has dual. Front is the same. If you wanted to, you can easily make the base look like a true S.
Q: How can I stop my Porsche 911 door from rattling?
I recently purchased a 02' Porsche Targa and the passenger side door rattles. When I press on the door it will cease from rattling but other than that it is pretty constant. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
A: you have lose bolts... take the interior of the door apart and tighten any bolts on the inside... then when putting the door back together, tighten all the screws down tightly.
Q: How much does it cost to run a Porsche 911 over a year?
im thinking of going for a used 911 Carrera 2 'S'
I can afford the car but not sure about the servicing etc. it comes with a 12 month or 12000 miles parts and labour warranty. So servicing will become a factor after the first 12 months!
Mileage - about 6000 per year.
Year is 1996 'P' 76000 Miles

I pay group 17 insurance right now on an alfa spider. im 34 with 4 years no claims bonus.
A: Depends on the mileage you intend on doing. Will it be a weekend car etc etc.
Q: Are all porsche 911 models super coupes?
There are different models of the porsche 911. Are all of these models super coupes or just a select few?
A: All have 2 doors. Some are coupes, some are convertibles, and some are targas.
Q: Does anyone have a picture of someone sitting in the back seat of a Porsche 911?
Does anyone have a picture of someone sitting in the back seat of a Porsche 911? or a picture with a full occupied porsche 911?
thanks in advance
A: That isn't actually a seat...it just looks like one but is a storage platform for groceries and luggage since there is no TRUNK..
Q: Looking for a carseat that will fit in the back of a Porsche 911?
My car is a 1980 911 and I am having trouble locating a seat that will fit, this is my baby and would LOVE to take my kids for a spin! Any ideas?
A: I realize this isn't helpful, but wait until they are older and can sit in front?
Having ridden in Porsche 911 years ago I'm sure its designers weren't thinking family car when they drew up plans.
Q: who would win in a one mile street race between a 1974 Porsche 911 and a 1969 cheve. comaro fs?
my brother is saying his camaro could beet my porsche any day! i say bull shit.
also...
who do u think would win a quarter mile race?
A: a porsche topps out at 212 mph... im going with the porche
im going with the camaro on the quater mile though
Q: Porsche 911 GT2 just too quick for other cars?
They come up against Ferrari's, BMW's, Corvette.. and spanked them all. How I'd love to GT2 (997)
My mate doesn't reckon it's worth the money though, and said he'd prefare a Lambo Gallardo which I think is not as good. Porsche 911 GT2 is quicker, and Porsche's are good cars though some see them as a poor mans supercar which is not true!
A: Yes, the GT2 is faster than the Gallardo.
In the show Top Gear, they drive a Porsche GT3 RS and Lamdborghini Gallardo Superleggera.
They are both lightweight, faster versions of 911 Turbo and Gallardo.
In a drag race and track race, they stayed together. Almost exactly the same performance.
The GT2 is faster and more powerful than the GT3 RS, so it would definitely beat a Gallardo or Gallardo Superleggera.
Q: Looking to buy a 1980's 911 porsche in the Houston Tx area. Where do I start?
Has anyone heard and know anything about Victory motor cars in Houston, Texas? Are they reputable? Are there any independent, reliable mechanics that will do a prepurchase inspection and give an honest overlook on a car in the Houston area? this will be my first 911 and I dont want to get sc#U$. I want this to be a good experience and a reliable every day car. I am looking for a 80's 911 porsche (1981-89) prefer turbo look or slant body. Could anyone please help with your expertise. thank you in advance
Frank
A: Frank,
Contact me by email and I'll send you some info, including a copy of last year's value survey from Excellence Magazine (the last time they did a used 911 value update).
Victory does a lot of eBay selling and has good feedback. Still, I wonder about them.
I agree with the suggestion that you join PCA. It's best to buy from an enthusiast. You'll find used car ads in both the local newsletters and the PCA magazine (print and online), including my 1980 911SC that's for sale. Don't know why you limited your years to beginning in 1981. Both SCs (78-83) and Carreras (83-89) are good cars to consider. Don't buy an SC that hasn't had the Carrera oiler update.
Turbo look is a good idea. Slant nose is not. This is personal opinion, but is shared by the great majority of 911 owners who are not NFL football players.
Good luck.
