Q: i am getting 2003 used honda civic LX 50K miles for 12k.is it good deal?is ABS must for michigan snow driving?
i am getting this used honda civic LX 2003 in good condition with arnd 50k miles on it for 12,340$ incl taxes, title etc. however,it does not have ABS.is ABS a must for snow driving in Michigan?is this deal good enough?

A: First off $12,340 is RIDICULOUS for a 2003 car, the LX is the lowest of the low as far as trim models go. You can get a 2008 LX for $15,000, that has a factory warranty with the ABS. The average price for this car should be about $8,000. I just searched online and found 67 in my area that were the LX model with less than 65,000 miles on them for under $9,000. The EX model is a different story, it has better options aong with a stronger motor.

Q: How do I maintain a used 97 Honda Civic?

Q: should i buy a used honda civic or a brand new one?
i am want to buy a Honda civic and i just wanted to know what should i buy a brand new civic or a used one 06,07 or a new one. which is a b better deal and how much should i spend on it.

A: I would say that all depends on what you can find for a used Civic. The good thing about honda is they have a very high resale value so unless you can find something used thats at least $3000 under book price I say just go for a new one. Also when you figure that loan rates are almost always lower on new cars, it can be cheaper to buy a new car after you figure in financing charges.

Q: where is it best to buy a used honda civic?
ok so im soon to buy a used honda civic i have a budget of $6000-$7000 what year do you think i can find and should i look at a honda dealership or just a used car place. which one will give me the best buy? thanks :) also is there any year i shold stay away from

A: I'm quite familiar with Hondas. In that price range, you are looking at a 2000 Civic model for about 6k or a 2001 model for about 7k. That is a fair price. You could probably even talk a private party down a little, but make sure you get it checked at a dealership before you buy. I wouldn't get one with over about 80,000 miles on it. Civics are so common, that you can get a low mileage one. Don't let someone talk you into paying full price for a high mileage car. Keep in mind that Honda changed the Civic body style in 2001, so it might be your benefit to go with an '01 as opposed to a '00, because it is the newer model. People will see it as a newer, more desireable car. Check out both though, because you may actually prefer the look of the '00 body style. In '00, Honda came out with a real nice looking SI model, most were in a snazzy blue or red color. They are hard to find and command a little more money though. As for Honda dealerships, they would be the best as far as knowing they thoroughly checked and maintained the car, but they will try to stick the price to you. It's great if you can get a fair price. If their cars are not flying off the lot, they may accept the prices I quoted above. It is not what I would consider a good or bad deal, so it would be fair if you could get one there for that kind of price. As for independent dealers, make sure it's reputable and does not deal with salvaged cars or other junkers. Given the age of the car, it is common for them to end up at an independent lot, because most dealerships just wholesale those cars. But some independent dealers pick up the cheapest thing they can get and not do a thing to it, but still jack up the price. Other independent dealers just get low cost, quality, trade in cars & check them out. I would take it to a Honda dealership for an inspection just like you would with a private party. Online, you can check autotrader.com. They are my favorite. You can put in lots of search criteria. Remember, most people will put a higher price than what they will accept, so you can put a broader price range in as a search. Independent dealers list there, too. Check your local paper, and check your local Honda dealership. Let me know if you have more questions. Also, if you like the Civic, you'll love the Prelude. You could probably get a '00 model or so around your price range. They are awesome, I had one. Good luck.

Q: Looking at a used Honda civic Si
I'm looking to buy a car and I found a used 07 Honda Civic Si. The car looks to be in great shape, the only drawback is that it has around 38,000 miles on it. They are asking 19,625 for it. Since it has so many miles on it, is it worth it? I'm not very familiar with the Si's. Thanks! Yes, I know how to drive stick. My current car, 99 accord is a stick shift. I want another manual.

A: Not worth it. you can walk off a lot with a BRAND NEW SI, for $19K out the door (if you know how to bargain, put down a good cash downpayment and have a good interest rate). We just negotiated for a 07 SI for $16 K with only 10K miles on it. 38K on a year old car? that's way too much traveling in that car. The average American travels about 12K - 15 K per year. Hope you know how to drive stick. <--- should have put a =) .. I figured you know how to drive a stick..its was a rhetorical question. ^_^

Q: What year used honda civic is best?
I am looking for a good, cheap first car, which is pretty much the civic. What year is best, considering cost, performance, and looks. It must be below $4,000. Any ideas? Thanks

A: i would get a 1992-1995 model because cheap and easy to work on. i got mine for 800 dollars in decent shape from my local classifieds. it had some minor problems and 190000 miles but now it runs great and i drive it every day mines also stock and averages 34 miles per gallon. my insurance is very reasonable for a 18 yr old with 2 wrecks and a ticket. but basically any civic is a good car for anyone i don't care what people say. ps try to get a ex or si they have the v-tec engine for a little more power.

Q: Any idea how much adding A/C to a used Honda Civic would cost?
I just bought a '99 Honda Civic with no A/C. I think it might be worth it to add it, the car has low mileage and is in great shape for resale later. But I have no idea what is involved and how much it might cost. I'd like to have a general idea before I talk to the dealer or shop.

A: $800

Q: Planning to buy a Used Honda civic or Toyota Corolla in Austin - tips please?
My budget is 7000$ and the car should be no older than 2000. The mileage should be less than 130000 miles. 1) Should I go to a dealer? If yes, which ones are good? 2) Should I buy from an individual? If yes, are there any classifiedes sites I can look? 3) If I buy from an individual, what checks do I need to do to ensure the quality of the vehicle?

A: notorious for CV's and Idle air control valves just let it warm up and after u test drive it dont shut it off right away ....and when driving listen for clicking sounds when u make turns..thats the CV's...and w/ any used car make note of rough transmission shifts, any repeating noises and driveablity(smooth ride, rough ride,) GL

Q: From where can I get my used HONDA Civic Sedan car checked & repaired economically in Salt Lake City, Utah?
Personal experience of repairing the said model of car may be indicated. The tecnical capability, the beheviour towards customer , cost effectiveness & post service warranty etc aspect may also be informed as personal opinion. Thanks.

A: Try visiting a car repair shop in your area. http://www.autorepairshoplocator.com They can help you with your questions. Try calling several places and compare what they say.

Q: Where can I find a used honda civic/prelude for under 2500 in So. Cal?
I am already looking on autotrader, yahoo auto's and recycler.

A: Preludes go for a little more unless the seller is expecting problems, but i wouldn't doubt you could find a civic in Cali for under 2500. Try looking in ebay with your zip or pick up those car trader catalogs you see in the gas station, most people post car ads on autotrader.com only if there's a guaranteed sale

Q: Used Honda Civic or used Toyota Corolla?
I am in the market to buy a used car and was wonderfing which one was better the Civic or the Corrolla thanks :] I want something between the years 2003-2006 and I don't want to pay too much, tops 10 grand.

A: It Depends On What Years, But They Are Both Good Cars, Performance Both the Honda and the Toyota Corolla are likely to feel somewhat slow because of their high horsepower-to-weight ratio. Handling The Civic and the Toyota Corolla have approximately similar tires. With their similar turning radiuses, the Honda Civic and the Toyota Corolla definitely handle roughly the same into and out of tight spots. Drivetrain Torque is roughly equivalent to acceleration, and in this respect, the Honda Civic isn't much more powerful than the Toyota Corolla. Utility The Honda Civic and the Toyota Corolla can accommodate the same number of passengers. Comfort Taller drivers will significantly enjoy the extra head room in the Toyota Corolla's front cabin compared to the Honda Civic. The Toyota Corolla is not particularly more spacious for your passengers than the Honda Civic. Dimensions The Honda Civic is a bit more ponderous than the Toyota Corolla. The Honda Civic and the Corolla compete for the same parking spaces. Cost The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. It costs roughly the same to get the Toyota Corolla to the dealership as the Honda Civic. Regarding MSRP, the Civic costs quite a bit more than the Toyota. Overview The Toyota Corolla and the Honda Civic have the same basic after-sale protection.

Q: looking at buying a used honda civic at 4k wit 165000 miles on it and a mazda 01' wit 150000 miles at 4k?
which would be a better deal to take?

A: I bought my 1997 H civic for 3200 and it was salvaged but looked great and ran great and still does. It only had 120 k miles. I would go with the Honda to get a better deal. Also the engines can last up to 250k or even better. Ive even heard to 300.
