Q: Where is the radio fuse for a 98 Honda Civic Hatchback?
I have a 98 Honda Civic hatchback and the cover for the fuse box is missing. Can someone tell me where to find that fuse and if there is an extra fuse I can use? Or a website that has a drawing of the fuse display.

A: bottom row, third fuse from the left it also controls the cigarette lighter iirc

Q: How to install an A/C in a 1993 Honda Civic Hatchback?
My boyfriend has a 1993 Honda Civic Hatchback that he loves, but there's one problem - we live in Florida and the car has no A/C. It is starting to cool off now, so we are just fine with the windows down, but once summer comes, it will be unbearable. So, what is needed to install an A/C in his car? What parts does he need to buy? Thanks for your help.

A: With a 15 year old car, it is unlikely that the cost of adding A/C would be lower than replacing the car with a newer, A/C equipped car. If you've ever looked at new cars, you would have seen that options come in two varieties: manufacturer installed and dealer add ons. Some options (pin stripes, stereos and such) often pop up in both categories. Others, like A/C are never dealer installed because, if possible at all, adding them on after the car is built is simply too complicated an endeavor. Adding A/C to a car is far more complicated than you seem to be expecting. Adding A/C to a house is usually a simple affair involving plopping an air conditioner in an available window and plugging it in. With a car, it's very different. First, since the layout of engines varies so much from one car make/year to another, there's no such thing as a "one size fits all": you would need air conditioning made for that model/year of car. Since the condenser is powered by the engine, rather than the electrical system, it doesn't just "plug in" either. Car A/C uses the vent system's air ducts as well, so there's that to consider. In all, if you can even get the parts, you are looking at several thousands of dollars to add a/c to a car.

Q: What's the newest prelude year of motor can i put in my 96' Honda Civic Hatchback CX?
I have a 1996 Honda Civic Hatchback CX and i'm looking for a good engine swap. Can a Prelude motor fit right in,or do i have to modify(some cutting) my inside hood? And what year of Prelude motor can i swap in? What parts do i need to swap a Prelude motor in?

A: I agree with Mike B. The part he left out is that it will leave about 1.5" of clearance between the oil pan and the ground. That means if you hit a rock on the road, you're screwed. But regardless, it is completely possible to fit a h22 in it. Try the engine from an RSX type s. It's a little smaller and packs a helluva punch.

Q: What's your thoughts on buying an older Honda Civic Hatchback?
I'm thinking of getting a Honda Civic (Hatchback). I know they stopped making those awhile ago... Is like a 94 or 96 model still a good car to get? I'll probably be upgrading it alot over time. I love the older hatchback models.

A: It is an excellent car to buy if you are planning on upgrading it over a period of time. It looks great, it is light-weight, and they are very easy to work on. Excellent choice....now all you have to do is save up your money for a B-series engine swap and your suspension! You'll be running in the high 14's in no time!

Q: 1992 nissan 240sx or a 1999 honda civic hatchback?
should i go with the 1992 nissan 240sx sr20det swap or a 1999 honda civic hatchback? both will be upgraded to around 150-185hp or more. Which would be the best to upgrade and race?

A: Will some people response didnt know what they talking about. No there isnt a 99-00 Civic Si hatch nor from 96-98 nor an EX for that matter. One main probably people have with the SR20 swap is wiring and they dont upgrade the raditor the car is if I remeber 205HP, most likey you the swap got the red top valve cover meaning an older engine and not the best flowing heads for the 240s compare to black top and blue top. Sr20 can make good power with a turbo upgrade, fuel, cams, head work, MAF can make 450whp. but cost alone will seem crazy like another $5000 into the motor. The stock block can make 500on crank no problem. Over all great car fast in str8 line good on drifting Civic, Its newer, no swap pros are no problems with the swap. A K-powered hatch can run down some stock 03-04 cobras if you look at local tuner Top Setup on youtube. Even a built B16 turbo will be fast and great track and street car. I say Civic, even though I like both cars Civic will have best resell valve. Like 2-years ago I remeber everyone was selling there Civics for 240sx and 240sx crowd was cashing in since value went up now its blance it all depends on what you want. Gl

Q: 1990 Honda Civic hatchback with lose engine mounts?
I am looking into buying a 1990 Honda Civic hatchback and the seller said it needs the engine mounts tightened. I know nothing about cars... is this a big thing? Pricey? What does it do if they are not tightened? The car is only $600, so I want to know if this is worth it.

A: All rubber starts to perish after so many years getting wet, hot and cold doesn't help matters. My golf's 96 engine mounts need replacing but only because the shaking gear stick is annoying me. Going to cost around £150 ($300) to replace them and thats $100 labour. I had all four top suspension mounts replaced. To be honest they didn't need doing after getting the old ones out, its any rubber that gets wet a lot that needs replacing.

Q: 4 door or 2 door for a 1993 honda civic hatchback?
I'm getting this care when I'm sixteen and my brother asked me if I wanted a 4 door or 2 door for the 1993 honda civic hatchback. I know nothing at all about cars... But what do you think looks better? And would there be a big cost difference for insurance?

A: All Civic hatchbacks of that era only had 2-doors. None of them had 4 doors. Technically, the "hatch" is considered a door, so all Honda Civic hatchbacks of that era were 3-door. Older Civics with a hatchback (ie. during the 1980s) had both 3 & 5-door options. 4-door versions of the Civic were all sedans with a trunk. This all changed with the new design in 1992. Hope this helps. The new Honda Fit brings back what could be considered a 4-door hatchback. As for insurance - you're a new driver. Expect to pay high premiums, especially for a Civic (only because all the kids have these). Good luck.

Q: 1990 Honda Civic hatchback needs Valve Seals?
How much can I expect to pay for new valve seals for a 1990 Honda Civic Hatchback?

A: you are looking at $300 up for replacing the seals with or without head removed. it is better to remove the head that way you can inspect the valve seats too to see if the valves need reseating. also a good time to replace head gasket.

Q: I have a 93 honda civic hatchback and i want to do an engine swap with a newer honda vtech engine?
What are the possible newer honda v-tech engines that I can put in it? I was thinking around 1999 to 2000.

A: Yes. The B16A2 swap is a very common swap. You need the engine, transmission, shift linkage, axles, a driver's side mount, rear mount bracket, and an ECU. For the ECU you'll have to buy an OBD1 to OBD2B conversion harness if you want to use the '99-'00 ECU, or you could find an OBD1 ('92-'95) P30 ECU, or get a chipped P28 ('92-'95 Si/EX) ECU and get it programmed to run correctly.

Q: Can leather seats be put in a 95 Honda civic hatchback?
I've seen older model hatchbacks with leather seats in them and I wanted to know how thats possible because I know that leather seats aren't an option on hatchbacks. Can you put integra leather seats in or seats from another civic?

A: Ok first off 1992-1995 Civics didnt have the options of leather seats, they are vinyal. Second Integra GSR leather seats fit just swap out there old rails and put yours. Rear seats you might need to swap bottom pans of a leather GSR seat. Honda-tech.com will help a lot look for 92-00 Civic forum and FAQs in that section or eghatchback.com

Q: How can you tell a 93 honda civic hatchback vx has the original vtec-e engine?
I'm going to look at one and i know that some of them don't say vtec-e on them so where can i tell if it is vtec-e? Also is 3000 a reasonable price? its between good and excellent condition?

A: look at the throttle body. if it looks smaller than an average civics throttle body than it is the real mcoy. $3000 is too much. ask for $1800 and talk them down to $2200 max.

Q: I have a 2000 Honda Civic Hatchback dx and i want to swap my automatic transmission to manual. Wat do i do?

Q: Links on how to install power steering on a 1996 honda civic hatchback?
Is there any tutorial on how to install power steering on a 1996 honda civic?

A: Your best bet is to let a profesional perform this installation. This job will require the removal of the entire steering rack from the vehicle. Obviouslly it had power steering as an option so the pump would not be a problem, you may need to replace the crank pulley. The cost will be well worth it. This is something you do not want to make a mistake on.
